Sustainability
anchored in our DNA
The ecosystem is out of balance. Eneco has been developing sustainable products and services since 2007 to make everyone's sustainable energy. Read more about what we do in sustainability and our performance.

Living within the limits of our planet
At the moment we need the equivalent of 1.7* planets to provide the natural resources and services humanity consumes in a year. A growing number of people are concerned about the state of the earth and adopting a more conscious lifestyle in response. We are convinced that people can take responsibility for their own energy and sustainability. And this also extends to the current energy transition and the pace at which it is unfurling. Our ambition is to bring our own energy consumption and that of our customers within the planet’s limits, to ensure that our planet remains liveable in the years ahead. Not only for ourselves, but also for future generations.

Our definition of sustainability
In recent years, concepts such as sustainability and sustainable development have become catch-all terms. The many different quality marks and claims put on products by vendors do not always represent the meaning users attach to it themselves. We’re aware of this and therefore make it clear how we interpret the term 'sustainable' and what we mean by a sustainable energy supply.
Sustainable energy supply contributes to sustainably managing our planet and living within its confines. Renewable energy – energy from the sun, wind, water and, under certain conditions, biomass – is essential for sustainable energy supply. However, waste flows also contribute to sustainable energy supply, such as waste-processing heat or unused heat from industry.
